on Courage and Acceptance

December 21, 1997. It is a sunday, ten young courageous men. prepared them selves for the past 2 years of their lives in the ministry for that great event. The Acceptance ceremonies. Held duirng the 11:oo am mass, witnessed by the faithful. Remembered by the servants, I am one of them. The ministry, Knights of the Altar (sacristan in our folk language). For more than ten years of my life Ihave been active in the ministry. The celebration is just like in ordination or perpetual profession in religous life. Why it is called accpetance? Primarily it is because we ask for the responsibility in serving not only in the daily mass but also to serve the community. In the process, the church will give us the responsibilty and there we were, young and very idealistic accepting the challenge of the church. It is also clear for the ten of us that the responsibility will also has its end. Everything must come to an end. We had our time and now it is thiers. Still, the acceptance attitude comes into play.

Just is the same in the different aspects of our lives. At first it hard to acccept that your capacity or your capabilty has reached its final peak. Now, there is only no more choice left for you but to hold loose on it. Only time will tell when will you understand why such circumstances occured. But at some point you will realize, there is no better way to handle things but to follow the Black Label Principle: Keep Walking. Then we will add the word Acceptance. Which makes it more meaningful. Less we realize that we started the journey with courage and acceptance. Thus we must also end it with that attitude: Courage and Acceptance. It doesn't end there, the question 'Where?' must be answered. The best way to answer it is to accept. Acceptance of your present situation, of those people who will come across you, of new relationships, friendships and of new responsibilities. Even new commitments must also be considered.

The past is already done. That only the lessons of it must be learned. You will loose relationships or even friendships. That is fine, nothing will remain forever. Only those who are brave and strong will stay forever. Yes, we can restore friendships and promises but it will never be the same. Maybe somethings are better left to be that way. Just to save some sanity for your self. So that you may start another journey all over again.

Courage and Acceptance. By beginning the adventure of a lifetime with this attitude we will arrive to the realizations of our dreams and fantasies.

  1. Life poses us a lot of challenges. In every challenge we encounter we must have the courage to face it. We should also be courageous enough to defy the odds and fight for what we believe in. At the same time, we must also have the courage to accept things that are happening to us. It is not easy to accept unwanted events in our life, but it is also important not to let such things bring us down.

When we are being courageous in facing difficulties let us not forget that things happen for a reason. We should always see things with an open mind. No matter how big our courage is some things would be just the same. The important part is we fought and acceptance would let us see deeper into the picture.

Courage is to contentment; Acceptance is to understanding.
